A Cheap Traveler's Guide: Budget Packing List

“Packing is my favorite thing to do!” said no one ever. Let’s face it – packing isn’t fun but it’s necessary. So I create a packing list to reduce expenses while traveling. On this list I’ve provided you with easy access to these items via links*. Warning: lame puns are also included in this blog.

On-the-go Laundry Detergent

How much fun is doing your laundry? Loads. If you’re a light packer, you may want to use some clothing items more than once. So avoid smelly, dirty clothes and wash them by hand using these travel laundry soap. Wash your items by hand at the sink.

Let’s talk about the essentials – food! I love food and I’d literally die without it. So first on my list are snacks and drinks. I provided different options, so in case you’re picky I gotchu! ;) Here are some snacks for you to avoid becoming hangry. It ain’t cute.

Tired of water? Enjoy some of these drink mixes. You pour them into a water bottle and voila!

To reduce costs, fill up your bottle with water! Use water fountains or tap water if those are ever a safe and accessible option. You could also go to your local supermarket and buy a big gallon of water to refill your bottle while you’re on the go.

Imagine this nightmare scenario: You’re out traveling and finally get to see the Eiffel tower but your camera dies! No pictures for you! :0 Avoid this by charging your electronics, no matter where in the world you are. Make sure to get the right one for your destination.

When it comes to powerbanks the smaller the cheaper it is, the less power it has. I would invest in a powerful one, even if it’s a little more expensive. I provided different options for you.

Cus you gotta put your stuff somewhere. Don’t put it in a plastic bag, that’s trashy.

When does a detective carry an umbrella? When he’s under cover. And you too, should have an umbrella while traveling. Save it for a rainy day!

Portable Containers
Money talks ...but all mine ever says is good-bye. Reduce your spending to avoid goodbyes by filling up these portable containers to use while you travel.

Happy Packing!
I hope you found this helpful. Make sure to check out my travel guides, budget tips + tricks, all accessible on my blog. I help others achieve their travel goals by sharing how I managed to travel the world while being broke af.

7 Reasons Why You Should Become an Au Pair
Just like most people, I dreamed for exploring the globe. As a young and recent high school graduate with limited fund this didn’t seem as an option. Fast forward a couple of months and a community college semester later, I was on a plane on my way to my new life as an au pair in France! It’s been many years since that experience and I still see it as one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. And today I’ll be telling you the top reasons why YOU should be an au pair!
First thing’s first - what the heck is an au pair?! An au pair is like a nanny abroad, but more. This term, (au pair), comes from French, meaning “part of”. You in a way become a part of the family.

Now, to the list!
